A Seamless and Nurturing Start to School Life
We understand that the transition into school is a significant milestone. At BIPS, children experience a carefully planned induction programme, ensuring a smooth, reassuring, and positive start to FS1. Strong partnerships with parents and a consistent, nurturing approach help children settle quickly and confidently into school life.
FS1 – Learning Through Play, Discovery, and Care

- Physical Development, including fine motor skills to prepare children for early writing
Children are gently introduced to the UK Letters and Sounds phonics programme, developing listening skills, sound discrimination, and early letter–sound recognition. Through meaningful play, storytelling, music, and movement, children build confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
FS2 – Building Confidence, Literacy, and Independence
In FS2, children make rapid progress as they begin to:
- Read and write simple sentences independently using phonics
- Develop confident number sense, working with numbers up to 20
- Explore the world around them and understand different environments and cultures
Imaginative play, role play, and storytelling remain central to learning, encouraging children to problem-solve, think critically, and express ideas creatively. Children are supported to reflect on their learning and make choices independently, fostering autonomy and resilience.
